How a complaint hits a brand.

The ad can be changed. The trust the claim was borrowing is harder to get back.

A complaint is public

Anyone can complain about an ad. The UK advertising regulator publishes the ruling when it upholds one. The original post may already have been seen, shared and repeated by creators who were given the same line.

What the brand loses

The immediate cost is the ad, which must not appear again in that form. The longer cost is trust. A health brand is asking people to believe a claim about their body. If the line was stronger than the product can support, or if a familiar face had a stake that was not shown, the next campaign has to explain the last one.

Where to catch it

The useful check is before the video goes live. Compare the spoken line, the on-screen text and the caption with the approved claim. If a person in the ad has a commercial relationship with the brand, that relationship has to be clear. Selado does not decide the outcome. A named reviewer does.
