Privacy policy
Last updated: 28 October 2026
This policy explains what personal information Selado collects through selado.co and our sales work, why we use it, who we share it with and what rights you have. We have tried to keep it short and plain.
1. Who we are
Selado Ltd is the controller of your personal information. We are a company registered in England and Wales, company number 17526246. Our registered office is First Floor, Swan Buildings, 20 Swan Street, Manchester M4 5JW.
Our registration with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) is being processed.
For any privacy question or request, email privacy@selado.co or write to us at the address above. We don't have a Data Protection Officer because we are not required to, but this address reaches the people who run the business.
2. What we collect and where it comes from
When you join the waitlist. Your name, work email, company and role, and whether you ticked the box to receive Selado news and product updates.
When you request a walkthrough. Your name, work email, company, role, primary content type and anything you write in the optional message.
Research about people who contact us. After you send either form, we use an AI research assistant (Claude, provided by Anthropic) to look up public, professional information about you and your company. This covers things like your company's website, what it sells, its size and location, its LinkedIn page, and your job title and professional profile. We do not look for information about your private life.
Research about businesses we might work with (prospecting). We use the same AI assistant to find UK businesses in the industries we serve and to research them from public sources, such as their website, news coverage and published advertising rulings. This is information about companies. Where it is useful, we may also record the publicly listed person in the relevant role (for example the head of marketing), with their name, job title and public LinkedIn profile.
When you use the site. If you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics records how you use the site: pages viewed, how you arrived (including campaign tags in links), your approximate location (city level), device and browser. If you reject them, none of this is collected. Our hosting provider also keeps short-lived technical logs (IP address, pages requested, time) to keep the site running and secure.
Spam protection. Both forms use Google reCAPTCHA, which looks at your device and how you interact with the page to tell people from bots.
When you email us. Whatever you send us, and our replies.
We do not collect special category information (such as health or ethnicity) and we ask that you don't include it in messages.
3. Why we use it and our lawful basis
UK data protection law requires a lawful basis for each use of your information. These are ours.
| What we do | Information used | Lawful basis |
|---|---|---|
| Add you to the waitlist and tell you when Selado is ready for you | Waitlist details | Legitimate interests: you asked to join, and we need to contact you about access |
| Send you Selado news and product updates | Name, work email | Consent: the tick box on the waitlist form. You can withdraw it at any time |
| Arrange and run a walkthrough, and follow up afterwards | Walkthrough details | Legitimate interests: responding to your request and discussing a possible contract |
| Research people who contact us so we can prepare a useful reply | Form details and public professional information | Legitimate interests: understanding who we are talking to and whether Selado fits |
| Find and research businesses that may need Selado, and approach them | Public company information and, where recorded, the named contact's name, title and LinkedIn | Legitimate interests: business-to-business marketing (see section 5) |
| Keep sales records in our CRM, and share leads fairly between our team | All of the above | Legitimate interests: running our sales process |
| Understand how the site is used and improve it | Analytics data | Consent: the cookie banner |
| Protect the forms from spam and abuse, and keep the site secure | reCAPTCHA signals, technical logs | Legitimate interests: security and fraud prevention |
| Keep records we must keep, and deal with legal claims | Any of the above, as needed | Legal obligation, or legitimate interests |
Where we rely on legitimate interests, we have weighed our interests against yours. You can ask us for a copy of that assessment, and you can object at any time (section 10).
We do not make decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects using automated means alone. The AI research assistant summarises public information for our team; a person decides whether and how to contact you.
4. Marketing emails
We only send Selado news and product updates to people who tick the box on the waitlist form. Ticking it subscribes you straight away. If you don't tick it, we will only email you about your waitlist place or a request you made.
Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link. You can also email privacy@selado.co. Once you unsubscribe we stop straight away, and we keep your address on a suppression list only so that we don't email you again by mistake.
We send emails through Resend. It may record whether an email was delivered, opened or clicked, so we can see whether our emails are useful and spot delivery problems.
5. Prospecting: how we find businesses to approach
Selado sells to businesses, not to consumers. To find businesses that may need us, we research UK companies in the industries we serve from public sources. We record the company, why it might be a fit, and sometimes the publicly listed person in the relevant role.
- We only use information that the company or person has made public in a professional context, such as a company website, a company LinkedIn page, a public professional profile or press coverage.
- We do not buy contact lists, and we do not record personal contact details such as a mobile number or home address.
- The research assistant does not email anyone. A member of our team decides whether to get in touch.
- If we contact you, it will be about Selado and relevant to your role, and we will tell you where we got your details.
- If you would rather not hear from us, tell us. We will mark your company or your record so you are not contacted or researched again, and delete the rest.
If we recorded your details this way, this policy is our notice to you, and we will point you to it in our first message.
8. International transfers
Some of our providers are based in, or use servers in, the United States. Where your information leaves the UK, we make sure it is protected: either the country is covered by UK adequacy regulations (including the UK–US "data bridge" for certified US companies), or we rely on the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses included in the provider's data processing terms. Contact us for more detail.
9. How long we keep it
| Information | How long |
|---|---|
| Waitlist details | Until you become a customer, ask us to remove you, or 24 months after we last heard from you |
| Marketing subscription | Until you unsubscribe. Your address then stays on a suppression list so we don't email you again |
| Walkthrough requests and sales records | 24 months after our last contact, or longer if you become a customer |
| Prospect research we didn't act on | 12 months. If you ask not to be contacted, we keep only the minimum needed to honour that |
| Google Analytics data | 14 months |
| Technical logs | Usually 30 days |
| Customer and financial records | 6 years after the end of the contract, as required for tax and accounting |
10. Your rights
You have the right to:
- access the information we hold about you;
- have it corrected if it is wrong, or deleted;
- restrict how we use it, or object to how we use it, including research and prospecting based on legitimate interests;
- object to direct marketing at any time. We will always stop;
- withdraw consent where we rely on it, such as marketing emails or analytics cookies;
- data portability, where it applies.
Email privacy@selado.co to use any of these. There is normally no charge. We will reply within one month, and may ask you to confirm your identity first.
11. Keeping it secure
We limit access to the people at Selado who need it, use strong sign-in for our accounts, keep secret keys out of our code, and use providers that encrypt data in transit and at rest. No system is completely secure, so if something goes wrong we will act quickly and tell you and the ICO where the law requires.
12. Complaints
If you're unhappy with how we have used your information, please tell us first at privacy@selado.co and we will try to put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, 0303 123 1113, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF.
13. Changes to this policy
We will update this policy when what we do changes, and change the date at the top. If a change matters to you, we will tell you before it takes effect.
